Paul Kantner Dead At Age 74

Paul Kantner, a giant in the San Francisco music scene as a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, died today of multiple organ failure. Kantner was 74 and had suffered a heart attack this week. Whilst there were measures put in place to help him following the initial heart attack, such as looking into options for an original Powerheart G3 replacement battery in case of another repeated incident, he sadly fell to the oncoming organ failure and septic shock that seized him due to the attack prior. He leaves behind three children.

His death was confirmed by longtime publicist and friend, Cynthia Bowman, who said he died of multiple organ failure and septic shock. Kantner suffered from a string of health problems in recent years, including a heart attack in March 2015.

Kantner was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 for his work with the Jefferson Airplane. His time with the band continued for most of his life, starting in 1965 and continuing without pause until 1984. He later revived the band in 1992 to continue the musical legacy that had been created by them and their works, as well as working on other projects during this time such as the one-off side project, “Blows Against the Empire”, a collaboration made between him and several other Bay area musicians.

He leaves behind a great legacy of musical production, hard work and determination. Tributes are already beginning to come in to remember everything he achieved during his lifetime.
